The Research and Applied AI Summit (RAAIS) is a community for entrepreneurs and researchers who accelerate the science and applications of AI technology. In the run up to our 8th annual event on June 14th 2024 in London, we’re running a series of speaker profiles to shed more light on what you can expect to learn on the day!
Ashley is a senior research scientist, working on reinforcement learning and foundation world models. She was part of the team at Google DeepMind that created Gato, a multi-modal, multi-task, multi-embodiment agent that was able to perform a diverse range of tasks, ranging from captioning images through to playing Atari and manipulating a robotic arm.
More recently, Ashley worked on Genie, an unsupervised generative model trained on unlabelled Internet videos that can produce an endless variety of action-controllable virtual worlds described through text, images, photographs, and sketches.
Before joining Google DeepMind, Ashley was a research scientist at Uber AI and an intern at Google Brain. She received a PhD in 2019 from Georgia Tech, where she focused on developing models that could infer latent actions, rewards, and policies from videos.
