If you follow Air Street Capital, you likely know about RAAIS: the Research and Applied AI Summit, where for nearly a decade, we’ve gathered some of the brightest minds in AI—from founders and operators to researchers pushing the field forward. RAAIS isn’t just a summit; it’s a community with a shared purpose: advancing AI in ways that matter.
The ticket sales from RAAIS and the London.AI meet-up all support the RAAIS Foundation, our UK-registered charity. I set up the Foundation in 2018 as a vehicle to broaden the range of people who participate in advanced AI research and to make educational content freely available to the public.
Some of the most inspiring feedback we receive isn’t just about our speakers—it’s about the connections the event fosters. Through RAAIS, people have found co-founders, research collaborators, mentors, and even career-changing opportunities that might have felt out of reach otherwise.
Our commitment to impactful research doesn’t stop with the Summit. Each year, the Foundation awards three- to six-month grants to support open, exploratory AI research. From privacy-preserving AI to climate tech to global health, we’ve funded independent projects tackling today’s most critical challenges.
As we review new AI research for the State of AI Report or evaluate startups at Air Street, we’re often struck by how transformative ideas come from small, dedicated teams—often working without the resources of a major tech firm or well-funded institute. This is where RAAIS Fellowships come in.
We’re thrilled to announce the latest RAAIS Fellowships that offer $10-25k per fellowship, in addition to $5k credits on Lambda’s GPU platform. If you’re working on an AI-first, open-source research project that deserves time and support to reach its full potential, we’d love to hear from you. Fellowships are open to AI researchers, engineers, and innovators with bold ideas and a commitment to open science.
There’s no set topic requirement. We’re looking for non-commercial projects that push the frontiers of what’s possible and are published openly for the community. If your work has commercial potential, let’s chat outside the grant process—email us to discuss.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We can’t wait to hear your ideas! In the meantime, register your interest for a place at 2025’s Summit.
